![]() Historically the program at NCEA has gone through: (i) benchmarking system performance (1980’s and 90’s) and (ii) development of tools and techniques for system improvement (1990’s and 2000’s) to (iii) the present work aimed at the development of precision irrigation through adaptive control. This applies to all systems but our emphasis has been on surface (furrow, border and bankless) and the mechanised sprinkler systems (centre pivot and lateral move) because of their predominant position in our major industries. It was driven by the belief that there are substantial gains in performance to be obtained relatively simply and inexpensively through improved design and management of these systems. The focus of recent irrigation system research at NCEA has been on the evaluation and improvement of irrigation application systems. Business development and commercialisation ![]()
